Safety Best Practices

Before performing any cleaning or maintenance procedures that the Bellwether team has not explicitly mentioned, please email us at support@bellwethercoffee.com or call 510-210-1536.

Do not open the glass front while the roaster is on and warm

Our roaster is designed to contain any possible fires. Opening the glass door can introduce oxygen to very high temperatures and cause ignition. As a best practice, do not under any circumstances open the glass door if your roaster is on and not completely cooled.

Ask before moving your roaster

You can move the roaster very small distances across even surfaces (for cleaning purposes). If you need to move the roaster across a greater distance (be it across the café, to another location, etc.) do not do so before contacting our team. The Bellwether Roaster has very sensitive thermocouples which can lose their calibration and cause issues to your roasts.

If you need to move the roaster, please reach out to us first so we can provide you with the necessary guidance and instructions.

Don’t place things on top of your roaster

Due to high temperatures, it is not safe to store anything on top of the roaster.

Ask before performing additional maintenance

Unless instructed by a Bellwether Technician, it is best not to go beyond the expected maintenance (Emptying Chaff Can and Water Reservoir, Cleaning Pre-Filter, vacuuming the Bellwether at the end of the roasting day).

If you believe your roaster is not performing properly, note what you are seeing and hearing, and reach out to our Support Team.
