This article will describe best practices for the day to day care of your Bellwether Roaster.
The daily maintenance tasks on the Bellwether Roaster are designed to be as quick and as easy as possible. Maintenance occurs every 6 roasts when the roaster automatically prompts you to conduct the tasks.
Below on the left, is the screen that will alert you when it's time for maintenance. When you're ready to begin, press the 'start maintenance' button. The button will be grayed out until the maintenance is complete.
The machine will keep track of your roast count even if the roaster is shut down between cycles--no need to worry about missing a cycle. The tasks are listed on the screen to remind you of the necessary tasks. Let's go through the three tasks:
1. Empty The Chaff Can
Open the maintenance door on the bottom left facing the roaster. Using the handle, pull the chaff can out. Use caution, as the Chaff Can gets very hot during roast, so an oven mitt may be required to protect your hand. Empty the contents of the Chaff Can into a waste or compost bin and replace into the cubby.
2. Empty The Water Bottle
Open the Maintenance, pull out the Water Bottle straight out by the handle. Unscrew the lid and empty its contents into a drain (or a nearby plant!). Take care not to misplace the gasket on the lid! Replace the Water Bottle and close the Cubby.
3. Vacuum The Pre-filter Media
Open the Safety Door covering the Roasting Drum on the front of the Roaster as in the image above. Firmly grasp the Pre-filter by the handle and pull out the tray. Be careful as each of the filters are loose in the tray and can fall out if inverted. Carefully vacuum both sides of each filter taking care to remove particulates and fine dust that accumulated on the roaster. Take care to replace the filters in the correct orientation and not upside down. Replace the tray into the slot and close the Safety Door.
After completing all three tasks, the "Confirm" button will appear on the screen. If you've completed all three tasks, press the button and get back to roasting!
